Unlike the much larger standard gourami, which can become aggressive, dwarf gouramis do well in most community aquariums and are compatible with most fish, such as Platies, Mollies, Plecostomus, Ghost Catfish, Tetras, and other docile fish. They require a tank that can hold at least ten gallons. They are usually found swimming in the middle or top regions of the aquarium, because Gouramis are labyrinth fish and make use of their labyrinth organ if necessary.
Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami (Trichogaster lalius)
The powder blue gourami is a very popular variation of the dwarf gourami due to its vibrant color and small size. It tends to change color depending on mood, it is primarily a beautiful silvery blue. These fish are relatively hardy and perfect for beginner and experienced hobbyists alike as they don’t need much space in the aquarium and have easy care requirements. While they are an easy species, it is still important to know how to give your powder blue gourami the best care possible so it has a happy and healthy life!
Our dwarf gouramis are still quite young but should start breeding soon. The young would be expected to take seven weeks until they are big enough to sell. We expect to have these available for sale in mid/late September 2022. If you wish to be on the waiting list for this species, please use the contact form to be placed on the wait list.
